Coke manages to get everywhere especialy in third world countries. I do like and enjoy coke but did you know that if a kenyan had the choice of buying a shoelace that he needed or a coke he or she would buy a coke. i cant quote that but i was told by someone that that was the case. I think the problem is that they do make a huge amount of money but i cant see the money being put back in. Maybe i am wrong but that is the case at least from the outside.

I liked the barn door as it had some subtle detail that was quite catching.. also the contrast to that of the Coke ad.

  1. The problem with Coke isn’t that they don’t re-invest their profit back into the communities they make it off but the way they so ruthlessly chase a higher profit. There are reports that at Coke plants in india they use up alot of the local water resources, and that in producing Coca Cola there is some sort of waste product they sell to Indian farmers as fertiliser (but its poisonous).

Not to mention their alleged views on trade unions (lack of trade unions in poorer countries mean lower minimum wage, longer working hours etc). I’ve been told Pepsi is the way to go but haven’t really read into it.

Don’t know if it interests you at all, just thought I’d put it out there :-)

http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2003/jul/25/water.india has some info, and there’s also a site called killercoke.org but dunno if its any good.

Have a good xmas, and Im following you on twitter now!

  2. Nice textures and contrasts, I agree. Nicely framed too. Cool find.

Re: Kenyan, people do strange things all over the world. They may need one thing and want another, and in short thoughtless moments the want wins… Sad but true. It would help if people would take a step back and think things through first, then the need would win hands down (thats my belief anyway).

  3. Hey, just two colors for an a m a z i n g shot !!!

    Merry christmas!

  8. Hi.

I like the photo. It has a very “real” feel to it.

As for what you said, I agree. Their global marketshare is appalling. When a company gets that big, I don’t even think you can call it a capitalist endeavor any longer. And, yes, I think if any Western company does business in a developing country, they should be obligated to reinvest in it. Heavily. And, you know, in the long run their margins would go up as well. Everyone wins EXCEPT for the stockholder in the SHORT run. I like capitalism, but that’s it’s major problem right there.
