black and white

The lads!

By black and white, Stylized5 Comments

This image was quite a tough one to choose as the original image quality was pretty poor and not that appealing.

It was rather tough to choose whether to put this photo up but after a bit of of messing with the halftone pattern photoshop filter. The contrast has been boosted quite a bit.

Its come out heavilly stylised but has created quite a gangsta looking image.

What says you everyone could it be more balanced.

Old Kenyan Man

By Depth of field, Portrait11 Comments

I took this image with a 70- 300 manual focus lens that i does not auto focus well with my Canon 20D so when i do get a nice image like this its rather rewarding..

I like the soft depth of field and the contrast that i have boosted it too… The mans face has so much detail and the way he is posed just shows wiseness…

The fact that his eyes were closed also was interesting and went well with the old feeling.. not that all old people sleep just though it was nice…

Wide pan shot of path in the forest

Wide pan shot of path in the forest

This shot was taken when i was doing a shoot for one of my major projects for Uni… It was a great opportunity to catch the beauty of the forest. I shall be doing a 5 part series on this over the next 5 days so do keep checking back each day.

I like this one as it is a cool gradient from light to dark across the frame and also the perspective of the rode into the distance…

Just achieved by a few photo filters… and de-saturation effects..

Little Wasini Island Boy | Kenya

Thus was a litle boy that i thought was pretty sweet playing on the old boats

This was a litle boy that i thought was pretty sweet playing on the old boats. I visisted Wasini Island, one of the last islands before you arrive in Tanzanean waters. As we were all leaving the island after having a lovely seafood meal this boy was watching all the tourists leave… Its such a wierd contrast as he lives there and its his home but for us visting is was a tourist atraction. Its quite powerfull as there is a sense of pain or anger in his eyes… What can we do about it?

Querky PD and KS

This photo is of my best friend Phil Downing and his lovely girlfriend Katy Slater. I was playing around with layering effects and one of the ones that i noticed was the overlay with gaussian filter… this creates a nice soft focus effect. I then made it black and white and realised it complimented the faces really (as is the case with black and white). I then toned the colourful areas to keep that bit of querkynes that i feel reflects a certain side of them both. Please Comment on it…
