Sitting in the Bush in Mahagi Congo with Cool Kids

By MissionNo Comments

So here I am taking a bit of rest bite sitting in the bush in the town of Mahagi Congo. I can hear the crickets buzzing the birds chirping the amazing Congolese children playing in the valley. It’s fairly warm but not to warm for jeans. It’s very peaceful actually and an absolute pleasure to be here.

God has been soo good to me. I had a bad stomach for a few days and a few of the horrible things that go with that but the Lord has healed me quickly and I’m all better.

It’s been interesting sleeping in a small double bed with my brother who is a big fella. 6foot.4″ despite not having solid nights sleeps Gods grace has been wonderful and don’t feel exhausted. The pillow I have been using consists of a sheet and some pieces of foam chopped up and out into a pillow case. It’s not been great but I can’t complain as its much more than lots around me have.

I twisted my ankle yesterday again but it’s so much better already. It is a comfort to know I have friends here like Chikuru praying for me. He was my friend and interpreter in Bunia. I spoke to him last night and it was lovely to hear his voice. He has his first exams today so please pray for him.

I have been challenged by psalm 111-112 recently.

Psalms 111:10 – 112:1
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom:
a good understanding have all they that do his commandments:
his praise endureth for ever.
Psalm 112
1 Praise ye the Lord.
Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord,
that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

Fearing the Lord. Obeying the Lord in everything is how I want to live my life from now on. Once again it appears that fearing the Lord goes hand in hand with keeping in the word of God. Keeping his commandments and precepts. We need to know his commandments and do them and also delight in them and do them joyfully.

Thats all for now as I have a little audience of children now watching me intently tap a block that looks like a tv. I wonder what’s going through their minds now. I would love to speak Lingala or luo so I could explain what it is. They are so sweet and cute. God really loves them though we are so different in culture. The one fella has gone off to bring his brother to see. They’re interested in this musungu.

Bless you all greatly.

Love in Christ Timmy

Do all that necessary to get Wisdom

By BeliefsOne Comment

Get skillful and godly Wisdom, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation); do not forget and do not turn back from the words of my mouth. (Proverbs 4:5 AMP)

I would like to take this time to write what God has been putting on my heart recently. I have been challenged by the whole area of Godly wisdom. In going through the first part of the book of proverbs it is so clear that wisdom is a hugely important part of life. The author of Proverbs (Possibly Solomon) says…..

Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.

Though it cost all you have, get understanding. (Proverbs 4:7 NIV84)

So it’s clear that have to take this whole area of wisdom seriously. It’s interesting how it will cost allot in fact all you have. This I have seen in my own life there is definitely a cost involved. Are you prepared for this?

The benefits and rewards are just wonderful, it is so amazing to read what the scriptures say about this. Have a look …

Esteem her, and she will exalt you;

embrace her, and she will honor you.

She will set a garland of grace on your head

and present you with a crown of splendor.” (Proverbs 4:8, 9 NIV84)

There will be a reward for those who lay hold of Wisdom. Many rewards in fact just read through 3 and 4 for a glimpse of them….

• Wisdom will give you a clear path to walk on,
• your foot will not stumble or be hampered
• it will be life for you
• all her paths are peace
• there is more profit in wisdom than silver or gold
• nothing you desire will compare
• there will be health to your body and nourishment to your bones
• the wise will inherit honour
• she will watch over you
• the years of your life will be many

And one that is so needed in everyday life is quoted bellow

when you lie down, you will not be afraid;

when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. (Proverbs 3:24 NIV84)

Those promises are great so great I mean how good are they. It seems like everything people strive for in life could be summed up in those promises. Life would be so much better if we all used wisdom more.

We must be aware that without wisdom there will be problems. There is such a clear distinction between the two.

The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn,

shining ever brighter till the full light of day.

But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness;

they do not know what makes them stumble. (Proverbs 4:18, 19 NIV84)

So let’s do our utmost to understand these scriptures and to ask the Lord for wisdom. I truly believe he will give it freely if we feel we lack it. James1:5. It will transform your life… You will never be the same again…. you will see the fruit of wisdom as you start to incorporate it in your life… It is a good thing… an amazing thing… An imperative! Ask the holy spirit to help you with this he will do it. It will bring you closer in line with Gods heart beat and into what his plan and destiny is for your life.

Dear Lord give us wisdom so that we may walk in your ways more closely. Amen.

Ecclesiastes 8:1 WHO IS like the wise man? And who knows the interpretation of a thing? A man’s wisdom makes his face shine, and the hardness of his countenance is changed.

I do hope that has blessed and challenged you. Please let me know our thoughts and comments. Cheers.

My next blog post will be on… On how we need to understand that God is bigger than us and that His ways are higher than ours. Isaiah 55. The concept of how we won’t really ever be able to grasp the way the Lord works but that through that there can be faith and freedom.

Proclaiming reversal – Changing our World

Wow what can I say – it was a tremendous week in-fact a life-changing week. I can’t begin to tell you how fired up to do missions right at the moment. It is amazing how when the anointing of the Lord is upon preachers they can really motivate you to step out of your comfort zone.

It all kicked off on Wednesday and went right throughout to Sunday with a great “MiChombs” BBQ on the Saturday. Its so great to just be immersed in the word of God and praising him with thousands of others.

Without repeating myself too much I’d like to put in the Links to the NLC Site as they have done a great job at documenting each day of the conference.

PLEASE PLEASE do open one and read/listen to it  and even better all.

Here are a few points that really struck home with me.

The 3 points from Pastor Jack Hanes were powerfull

  1. We Care
  2. We Share
  3. We Dare

Those three words really spoke to me as they highlited the importance of caring an sharing with one another and also the importance of stepping out in faith.

Please have a look at my notes on the We Care We Share We Dare sermon with Reference to Acts 17: 1-8

The master key to the greatest life on this plannet

OTHERS

We have to focus our life on others.

Pastor Jack Hanes

This tied in so well with the other sermon that was just entitled “Others”. This was such a challenge to me as I find that its so easy to talk about myself to others and not even ask how someone else is. I also was challenged to not be so self orientated when it came to social networking specifically the web side of my life. Its so easy to become almost Narcissistic with the way I update things that are just about me! I also feel to be more out going with things on Facebook; I know this is silly but just asking how someone is and how they are getting on either on their Wall or either by email can make all the difference. One of the videos we watched was really challenging all about our self consumed society. Pastor Jack said you could almost be guaranteed a best seller if you out self on the front of a book! It is a great challenge to society currently as really its so easy to focused on ones self you just have to look at the magazines and shows like Big Brother and you will see how its all about me. I challenge  you if you have read this today to ask every single person, who you encounter, how they are and what is happening in there life. Lets be more outward focused.

Jesus came for others. Sending his Son to die on the Cross for our sins.  Mark 10 –  even the God man came for others.

We must be walking in the same footsteps of Christ and be looking how we can give up our lives for others. Philipians 2.5 who can I die for today.

Here are my notes on the “Others” sermon.

There was a great challenge to sacrifice. By this it was referring to the 1 Kings 18  scripture – and how that the way that we received the fire of God was by sacrificing something. What is your Sacrifice?

Catch Something – MP3 DOWNLOAD HERE AND HERE

There were a few other sermons that I took notes on. One was the challenge of Dreaming an having a dream but also even more important how we can make some one else’s dream happen. This was by Paster Alfie.

Picture 3Picture 5

One of the things that was so amazing about this conference of how it is so important to recognise people and thank them and “love on them”. Pastor Tom Messer was so kind and gave some amazing words on stretching forth our right hand and stepping out. And how by this time tomorrow our lives will be changed – this is a real prophetic word as things must and will change in our lives – whether tomorrow – whether next week – whether next month but we must believe that things will change.

If you always do what you have do you will always be what you have done. Pastor Tom Messar

All in all it was such a boost and truly life changing.

Thinking of what whilst flying?

By BAIMP, holliday, MeNo Comments

Well if you are reading this you have manage to catch me whilst I’m over the English channel on our decent to London Heathrow. I’m sitting just behind the engines and they have been roaring a sollom song the who journey.

It’s been a good flight and I have managed to get some sleep I did try and sleep on the floore for a bit but that was interupted quite suddenly as it was not permitted on flights.

I write with a sense of anticipation for this new year as it’s is only about 5 months until I an finished all it formal education. Before I can get to excited I have to complete a 100000 word dissertation and complete my spots Kenya project.

The plan is to work hard now on the dissertation an get a good chunk done. Whilst working at least 2 days a week on spots Kenya.

It’s probably going to be a rather hectic few months but God willing I can and I will make it.

I was in church and the pastor was speaking on being expectant an having a expectancy for what the Lord wants to do and has planned for us. It was bassed on Isaiah 30 v 18. It is just really important to have a hope and aim and I am praying that mine would more and more be in the Lord and not in my own strength.

Well we are just flying though some clouds about to land me thinks. We have been prepped that it is minus 3 which is making me cold just think about it. At least it will cool my sun tan.

Ok landing is iminant so I don’t really want to loose my iPhone as we break.

It’s been great.

I’m going to get this out whilst in the air. Yup there you go.

Landed now sorry.

Bloggin whilst flying

By MeNo Comments

Well I am currently about thirty thousand feet above sea level cruising over south Italy. Incase you haven’t gathered I am flying In a Boeing 777 jet to nairobi Kenya on my way home to see my parrents and me bro josh.

I am sitting here waiting for two things one my food to come which is a bit late as we had some turbulances it was actually rather scary and I must admit a small thought crossed my mind in the vein of what I would do.

Well the food is almost here. The little trolly is parked up in front of me and I am thinking what I would like beef or chicken? What would you choose?

I am going to pause this post here while I eat my food and watch hancock. Just finished watching wanted and was not to impressed to be honest. Well that’s slightly loss worded it was quite impressive but I just didn’t agree with the spiritual post modern ethic that was woven into the script. I know we are meant to suspend our disbelief with cinema but when your belief contradicts with the moral structure of the narative then one can only think to him self… Why am I watching this. It’s just so easy to fill our selves with junk and what ever is pure what ever is lovely….. These are the kinds of things that we are meant to fill ourselves with. ( I’ll referece that when I can get to my bible.)

Hancock was a bit better and had a more possitive meaninig but just didn’t really think much of the plot. Some satisfying twists and cool effects though. Very arristotelian.

Oh yeah the food was good salmon but the sauce was a bit runny and could have had more flavour.

I have had a great chat to the lady next me called EVA was cool chatting about UNI life and just random things like movies. It’s always do great to talk to people on a plane as it’s always a bit awekward when you go throughout a whole flight without even saying hello. We were wondering how easy it would be to fake ones identity and pretend that you are a spy or somethin. I think it would be quite hard to sustain what do others think?

Well it’s time to try and get some sleep ad Its about 12:33 Uk time and my body is telling me to sleep.

I expect I’ll be back soon.

Well it was a good flight but am pretty tired now and about to have a nap at home.

Do you enjoy flying?

Horizon: The President’s Guide to Science: Christian Review against Dawkins

By Beliefs, ChristianityNo Comments

Tonight i watched an incredibly well made documentary on BBC on channel 2 at 9 pm. It was very well shot and the cinematography was outstanding… Please read down and on for my point of view on the content and message.

I started watching it and just liked the look and the way it was put together and wasn’t taking much notice of what content was being said as they had some great shots and montages of equations and cityscape’s

and an interesting way of using screens to show parts of the documentary.

I Have only just got back from  and i don’t actually watch much tele?? i know its strange but seems i just don’t as not much of it meets my fancy but this definitely did. It was so nice to watch and see all the uses of clever camera work and shots to make it look so professional and sleek. Below is one of my favorite shots.

The use of blur pull focus and depth of field was excellent and just choosing some great stock footage was also important to the way this moved along.

I didn’t start taking in what was actually being said until they started going into the biology part of this argument and i was shocked to hear what i heard. It was from a particularly biased view point and this was the evolutionist one. I would like to say that I am no scientist and that i don’t know half as much as these clever guys but i do know  one thing and that is that God does exists and that he created this world that we live in as you read this.

I found it very interesting that Evolution was presented by Richard Dawkins as a fact and that, I quote, ” In order not to believe in Evolutions you must be either Ignorant, Stupid or Insane” These are very strong words and rather insulting really as though i don’t have a clear line on this i do know that we were created in the Image of God and that means that we did not derive from shell fish.

Earlier in the Documentary he says that “evolution is the only way to explain the illusion of design that we se in the living world” to me this is completely wrong as he is obviously acknowlaging that ther is design but stating that it is an illusion. This seems to contradictory as he would obviously argue against the fact that there is Intelligent design.

What ever the process i believe that we have a creator and that God has intelligently designed every single one of us and that this world surely can have just come about due to chance and that we cant have just morphed into what we are as incredible beings purely out of what is virtually nothing, single cell organisms.

The other really astonishing statement is that he dismisses that every soul is unique and just fluffs away that idea by saying that because something doesn’t suffer it is ok to kill an unborn baby that could grow up to be the next president of the United States. This is a terrible things as if you based life on this fact then it would mean it would be ok to shoot someone in the head with a sniper. Surely that’s ok as the person would not have suffered as they have not know its pretty instant a shot to the head. Surely not??

Also i think that it is very sad that he is ruling out God by saying that the day Darwin brought out the book on the origin of species 150 years ago on a Thursday… does this mean he existed before that??

You can find the video at this link

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00dlr2j/b00dlqy1/

I am no obscuratist but i do feel that things need to be addressed as people are being fed one point of view and not the other side of the argument and the truth is that we are are loved and created by God and that he did send his son Jesus Christ to Die on the Cross for us.

Please do let me know what you think and what your thoughts are on the matters above christian or non christian.

Temptation and the worst of it. Jesus’ Journey

By Christianity, Jesus116 Comments

This is so true…Taken from 22 words

God said everything he wanted to say about ultimate reality in under 2,000 pages.

I was reading one of the Gospels and it was the 40 days of fasting of jesus in the desert, then the 3 specific temptations from the devil.  If you take time to think about all that happened what with him being tempted in the desert. Matthew 4:1-11

“If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[a]

Then being taking to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.

“If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:  ” ‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[b]” Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[c]

An finally being taken to the highest point in the world??

“All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[d]

Its amazing to think how much is said in the bible and how in return is so clear and concise…
Despite all the temptation Jesus decided to take the hard way… and not give in to what could have been so easy…

Jesus could have easily done some incredible things to please man and earn their kingship but instead he decided to take the hard root and go through so much. Ultimately leading up to his death on the cross.

Jesus could have just taken the world as man saw it, but he had greater plans to redeem us and give us an opportunity for eternal life in heaven… he could have been so selfish but he chose to die for our sins so that if we believe in him we would have eternal life…

This is something so amazing if you stop and think about it as in essence Jesus turned down the world and ended up saving it.

Thoughts that I am still trying to get my head round are..

well so what Jesus ended up with the world and did anyway as he was God??

If God knows any way then why did he put Jesus through it if he knew he would make it in the end??

Some thoughts from others would be helpful and interesting.

Ultimately he did sacrifice his life for us and this is an amazing scripture to leave you with..

John 4:14

14but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Changing to WordPress as full CMS for my Website.

By Cool Things, DesignNo Comments

I am seriously thinking of c

hanging my website to a fully automated wp managed site that i can optimise using their clever CMS system but still have the flexibility of changing design lay outs…

I really think i want to do this but the problem i am facing is how to get going i feel that i will use an already developed theme and build from that as a starting point.

Heres one that i really like and am thinking of using…. Infinity theme….

I also do like my current theme that i have worked hard on so please advise on what you  like and surgest some nice ones tooo..

Is this being lazy as in using some others designers work and then making it suit my needs..

Mee thinks not as i can use what they have do

ne and maybe better it and then move onto my own design once i have the system sussed…

i have just read a good post by one of my technical lecturers Will Goldstone

What are peoples thought
